Rachel & Charleston. Oh. my. goodness. These kids! At the reception, Charleston(known as Cal) shared about the time that he first knew he was really in love with Rachel. After dating for a bit, they took a tropical vacation together, and after spending day after day together, when they got home, he not only wasn’t tired of her yet, he was sad to leave her. And now, after years together, you can still see his love for her written all over his face when he looks at her 🙂 I asked Rachel when she first knew she was in love with Cal, and she said “THE SAME MOMENT”! And she claims to this day, they still can’t seem to get enough of each other. After all their time, they still hate to be apart. Guys. That’s love. They tied the knot at BRICK in San Diego and it was an incredible day!
Linda & Jason are the absolute sweetest! I’d been dying to photograph an engagement at the Elfin Forest in Escondido for… obvious reasons (look at that greenery and WATER y’all!) 😉 So I was pretty pumped when at their client meeting Linda said she’d been Instagraming and was in love with the photos she’d seen of the creek there. I was even more excited when she showed up with a sweet braid in her hair and colorful dress— sooo my style! But the most exciting part of this engagement session was definitely seeing Linda and Jason interacting and their sense of humor coming out. THEY ARE THE CUTEST! The way they can goof around and have fun is exactly what inspires me about love. A couple that laughs together, stays together, I say! I am so excited that they picked me as their wedding photographer and can’t wait to photograph their wedding next April at the Twin Oaks House and Garden Estate in San Marcos!
So Kateryna’s mom found me via a friends wedding photos that I had just recently taken, and asked me, “Do you take senior photos?” OMGOSH YES!!! Lol. To be honest, I’ve only done it once before but had SO much fun doing it, I’ve always wanted to do more, but have never known enough high schoolers. This was seriously a blast. I so love photographing this moment in a person’s life. Senior year is the year you really start dreaming things for your life… things that you have NO idea how or when will happen, and I personally always love reflecting on all that’s unfolded since then, and how differently than I had imagined too. I truly wish I could go back and have almost 30 year old Calli tell 18 year old Calli– to just let go. Let go of your expectations and timelines. Live in each moment and trust that God will work it all out better than you could ever dream of. …I have this nagging feeling that may just be the exact advice 50 year old me will have for 30 year old me as well 😉 Anyways, Kateryna– if you see this blog post of your beautiful 18 year old self and read this– that’s what I got for ya 🙂
Alinn&Nick came down from LA just for this engagement session at Sunset Cliffs Natural Park with me. They’d never been there before, but they told me they love mountain and ocean views and trusted me on this one. I’m so glad they did! Sunset Cliffs has become my absolute favorite spot to photograph because it has everything– views, ocean, greenery.
They are the most adorable couple with an adventurous spirit. I loved the chance to get to know them better, see their dynamic(which I think totally shows in the photos), hear about their families, the proposal… to give you a snippet, they met back in 2011 during their second year at UCLA… According to them, “She knew he was the one when he started a spontaneous (and silent) dance party at Powell, their school library. He knew she was the one when she took the bus to KFC with him and willingly walked the two miles back when they missed the last one. The rest is history.”
How. Cute. Is. That! I absolutely can not wait to photograph their wedding in Julian in March!
Amber and Jordan tied the knot at the La Quinta Country Club this spring…. I would write my own experience of this one, but I got Amber to write a little description herself, and I think it’s all the more sweet hearing it from the bride herself!
“It may shock most brides, but I’m actually thankful for that windy weather! It really solidified the reason I was marrying my soon-to-be husband. I’ll never forget when he said to me, “God is just blowing us a kiss.” I was amazed that throughout the day, a type-A person like me was still smiling ear to ear. My husband is a fun-loving jokester who started off our reception with some witty comments about the wind. He asked everyone to raise their hand if they are in a relationship or married and said how all of us know that nothing ever goes perfect and that’s the beauty of finding the right person to get through those moments together. This became my favorite moment of the wedding. You could feel the energy in the room lift because really, everyone was waiting to see that we were having a great time and in high spirits.”
